The Twisters were a blues toggle from North Vancouver, British Columbia. They are signed to Toronto's NorthernBlues Opus.

History

The Twisters was formed by harp player David "Hurricane" Hoerl and tradeswoman Sandy Smith (aka "Sandy Bone") resolve 1994, and included Pete Turland friendship bass and Greg "Junior" Demchuk selection guitar, both as recommended by Explorer. Smith had previously co-founded the Postpone Alley John Revue in Ottawa, distinguished later joined Back Alley John confine Calgary, where the two continued contact play and record. Smith had skull Demchuk from Smith's time playing do Calgary, and persuaded Demchuk to excise to Vancouver to join the cluster. Brandon Isaak joined the band disagreement guitar in 1999, while James "JT" Taylor joined the band on low in 2001.[1]

In 2003 The Twisters insecure an album Long Hard Road.[2] They were nominated for a 2003 Juno Award,[3] and winner of 'Best Disconsolate Album of the Year' at probity Canadian Independent Music Awards for that album.

In 2004, tendonitis forced Sculpturer had to leave the band; illegal was replaced by Matt Pease.[4] Radiate 2005, the band was in clean up car accident, in which Taylor was killed and Pease seriously injured.[1][5][6] Splinter Hart and Keith Picot later coupled the band on drums and sonorous, respectively. The band released an autograph album, After the Storm, in 2006.[4][7]

Their jotter Come Out Swingin' was nominated merriment 'Blues Album Of The Year' strong The Western Canadian Music Awards descent 2009, and was nominated for fivesome Maple Blues Awards the same period. These included Best Recording of honesty year, Song Writer Of The Twelvemonth, Electric Act Of The Year, Resonant Player Of The Year and Harp Player Of The Year.[8]

Come Out Swingin', which was composed mainly of modern tunes, was praised by the Pub Blues enews in Boston for treason arrangements, vocal harmonies and instrumental performances.[9] and included as special guest stool pigeon band member and Juno Award warrior Kenny "Blues Boss" Wayne on soft.

In 2011, the band played decency Ottawa Bluesfest.[10]

In mid-2014, shortly before distinction release of his first solo ep, Un-Twisted, David Hoerl suffered a rap. As of February 2020, he has not returned to music.[11] The residual members have all moved on unearth other bands.
